The UK's first

Seafood boil

The Fat Crab was founded in 2014 with the idea of bringing the flavours and nostalgia of Sri Lankan home food to the masses. It was an adventure to create the smell of the sea, warmth of the sandy beaches, exotic spices and the warmth of the people to the table.

The idea was to bring friends, families and seafood lovers to enjoy the riches of the sea in the simplest way possible. At The Fat Crab, it is all about enjoying seafood in an unpretentious way, surrounded by your loved ones and friends.

A steamy affair

with flavour

At The Fat Crab we serve our food with a twist. You choose your starters, mains and extras, then you pick your heat and your spice.

Whilst you enjoy your starters we prepare your mains and extras and serve it all combined in your very own steamer bag. Our steamer bags ensure that all of the juices from your main and extras are infused and locked in from the moment it is cooked until you open it on your table.

There’s nothing quite like opening one of our steamer bags and dipping your chips into the King Crab King Prawn juices, just delicious!

Good vibes only

sharing memorable experiences

When you walk into one of our restaurants, we want to transport you to the relaxed ocean crab shack vibes of Sri Lanka and the Creole deep south. We believe that food is love and our food is about friends and family sharing great seafood, making a mess and enjoying the moment together.

We show our customers just how much we value them by going the extra mile when it comes to sourcing and preparing our food. We only source the very best quality seafood from around the world. All our food is freshly delivered daily from some of the most remote corners of the world right to your table.
